Walking

Wow, we have a lot to write home about this week.

On Monday, Kennedy's daycare had to send her home.  She had exceeded her allowable number of "loose" stools.  She felt just fine because she wasn't running a fever and she was pretty giggly too.  Her tummy is still getting used to all of the table foods that we've been giving her.  Nevertheless, Rachel had to stay at home with her on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Kennedy broke her eight tooth.  So now she has her four front teeth on top and bottom.

On Wednesday, Kennedy started walking.  Not just one or two steps, but what we consider bonafide walking.  Rachel went to pick her up from school and Kennedy walked over to her.  We were so excited that we had to keep prompting her to do it again and again.  We caught some of it on video and posted it below.  She's still pretty wobbly, of course.  That just makes it that much more fun to watch.

On Thursday, Kennedy turned 10 months old.  Pretty wild to think about how much our lives have changed in that time.

On Saturday, Jason went to a photography class while the girls went to a birthday party.  Our neighbor, Conrad, turned one year old and they had a bicycle themed party to celebrate.  We also went for a swim in the afternoon.  That evening, we all went to dinner over in Flower Mound.  The restaurant had a splash park just outside the patio.  After we were finished with dinner, we headed over to the splash park.  Kennedy loved it.  She slowly wobbled over to the edge of the splash zone and just stood complacently as she watched the water splash and the other kids play.  On our way home, we hopped out of the car and took a family photo.  There is an undeveloped patch of land near our house and Rachel suggested that we take our photo over there.  It turned out pretty good so we posted a couple.

Mom was Out of Town

This was certainly in interesting week.  Rachel spent the week in Reno, Nevada for a conference so Jason assumed full parent duties.  That meant that he needed to get Kennedy ready, take her to daycare in Fort Worth, and then pick her up at the end of the day.  It was a bit of an adjustment at first, but Jason got the hang of it and also started to enjoy the new routines by the end of the week.  Rachel arrived back late on Friday afternoon and we were certainly glad to have her back.

On Saturday morning, we all headed to Austin.  Jason's cousin, Holli, graduated from UT Austin and we decided to take part in the celebration with the rest of the family.  As we were getting ready to leave on Saturday morning, Kennedy started to act like she needed a nap.  Since were were about to be in the car for three hours, we wanted to make sure that nap time was the same time as car time.  We ended up rushing and getting out of town without her play yard.  Once we got to town, we ended up getting an inflatable pool to serve as a substitute.  It was sure nice having the opportunity to see the family and celebrate Holli's graduation.

Mother's Day Weekend

Kennedy has been stealing food from some of her classmates.  It has been getting so bad that one of the other mom's approached Rachel and asked her to stop serving Kennedy so much "smushed" food.  So we decided to go ahead and start incorporating more finger foods  into her diet.

On Friday, we went to a sandwich shop around the corner.  They have these little plastic fireman hats.  One of the employees gave us one and we put it on Kennedy's head.  To our surprise, she kept it on for about 15 minutes.  They also serve pickle spears with the sandwiches so we shared them with Kennedy.  She sure enjoyed them, so we picked her up a jar from the grocery store.

A couple of weeks back, we had ordered another car seat for Jason's car and it came in this week so we spent some time installing it on Saturday.  When we took her old carseat out, Kennedy spent some good time playing it.  She probably spent two or three hours just playing with the car seat.  She even climbed in at one point.

On Sunday, we had a brief mother's day celebration in the morning.  Jason and Kennedy got up early to make Rachel some biscuits and gravy. We also served them with a mimosa like beverage.  It was champagne mixed with cran-raspberry juice.  We also gave Rachel a new watch to replace her old one that recently broke.

That afternoon, we went to a celebration with the Jalbert family and their friends/family.  Matt recently graduated with his master's degree.  He has been in school for 24 years, so it was certainly a reason to celebrate.  The kiddos even enjoyed getting together.  Courtney had ball pit and it was a big hit.

When we got home, we played with some bubbles and then went for a swim.  She enjoyed it, but it was a little chilly so we didn't stay on there for long.

Little Swimmer

On Monday, one of our neighbors talked Jason into going out for a bike ride.  Jason couldn't quite hang with the rest of the crew, but had a good time and plans to spend some time more time on the bike.

On Tuesday, Rachel headed over to the driving range.  She has a golf tournament coming up at work, so she needed to spend some time refining her swing.

On Saturday, we went to May Fest in Fort Worth with some friends from Rachel's work.  They had all kinds of rides and activities for the kids.  Kennedy wasn't quite old enough to take advantage of them yet, but she sure enjoyed looking around at all of the sites.  It also started to get pretty warm and Kennedy got pretty pooped.  She even drank quite a bit of water from our water bottle.

On Sunday, we fed Kennedy eggs for the first time.  She seemed to like them just fine.  She also made quite a mess of them, but it wasn't anything that the Dyson couldn't take care of.

That afternoon, we headed over to the swimming pool.  This was Kennedy's first time to the swimming pool, so we didn't quite know how she would like it.  She was a little apprehensive at first, but it wasn't long before she was giggling and splashing.  We also got her a little float with a shade.  She especially liked playing in her float.
