A Bit Surreal

Alright folks, Jason checking in.

Now that we're officially going to be a family of three, my life should feel dramatically different right?  Well sort of.  The initial excitement has passed and we have pretty well settled back into our normal routine.  It's easy to for my focus to slip back into the same things that I had on my mind before.  Examples: taxes, mountain biking and preparing for the PE exam (by the way, my PE application was officially accepted so the pressure's on).  Minus the visuals of a little baby bump (reference photo below), it's almost like nothing has changed.  I've always heard horror stories about terribly hormonal preggos that make their husband's life a bit "challenging," but it's been quite the contrary for me.  My preggo seems to be happier than ever and she doesn't seem to be exhibiting any of the behavior that I has somehow expected.  Perhaps that's why the pregnancy feels a little surreal?

I love my preggo and look forward to embarking on this journey with her.

Doctor and More

On Monday we went to the doctor to have a check up. Jason got to hear the heart beat for the first time (I got to hear it last week when I went in for my cold) so that was exciting. The doctor said that everything is progressing well, all my blood work came back perfect, and all in all it seems to be going very smoothly. I had lost some weight between my first appointment and when I went in for my cold (probably from being sick) but I am now just 1 lb under what I was on the first visit. The doctor said that was good. I was reading in a book that you should ask your doctor how many babies have they delivered and mine said she has delivered about 3000 in 10 years. During her residency she was at a very busy hospital so her frequency was much more than it is now. I am still feeling really good and can't complain a bit (yet)! Here is 13 week photo. I think I am starting to get a little bit of a bump : ) but all of my clothes are still fitting.

We also went and ordered the furniture from the previous post on Monday. When we were at the store, we almost changed our minds...but ended up going with what we kept coming back to!

I officially have my own running class. One of the other coaches (and one of our good friends) got a promotion at work and it sent her traveling...effective immediately. So that left a class without a coach and I was more than willing to step in and help out wherever they need me! It is the advanced 5k class and has another 3 weeks. After it finishes, I should be going back to my Half Marathon group I have been mentoring. I know one of my "students" very well as our good friend Courtney is in the group!

Our friends, the Bucks, were in town over New Years. While they were here, Mallory took pictures of Addison, Matt, and Courtney (our best friends here that we both work with). Addison was not too excited about the pictures, but Mallory was able to capture some great pictures of her and the three of them together! She is so talented and I love bragging about her! I can't wait for her to come when Baby Crawley is born and take Newborn pics!!!  Here is a sample of their pictures:

Check out her blog to see some of her other great work at www.mallorybuckphotography.wordpress.com!

I think that is about it for now... Hope all was well for everyone this past week!

Shopping for JR

Greetings blog followers,
Now that we have the extra room almost completely cleaned out, we spent some of our free time this weekend shopping for Baby Crawley.  We found a nice little bedroom set that will take our new addition all the way through high school.  The baby bed will convert from baby bed, to toddler bed, to a full-size bed (reference the left side of the background in the photo below).  We will likely get the short dresser and the hutch (shown behind the baby bed in the photo below) so we can use it as a changing table.
We also looked at car seats/strollers and true to form, we have our eyes on a red car seat/stroller.  Check out the photo below.  For inquisitive minds, it is also one of the safest car seats on the market.  It really is amazing how versatile and well-designed these things are.
We've also had inquiries about the name of our blog and no, we didn't intentionally name the blog JR for "junior."  We did name the blog after our initials, Jason and Rachel, but but it is appropriate that this also stands for "junior."

The Secret is Out!!!

Well today was the day that we made it known to the entire world that we will be expecting a bundle of joy in July...well we posted it on Facebook, so that basically means that the whole world now knows! I am still doing well with the pregnancy and on Thursday will be at 12 weeks! I still have not really had any morning sickness and am super thankful for that. That is one thing I definitely will not take for granted! I have been battling a pesky little cold though. My mom insisted that I finally call the doctor, so I went in today and she put me on some meds that are safe for me and the baby. The bad news: no running until I stop having drainage... Oh well, it's pretty cold out and I will definitely take that excuse to not have to go brave the cold! Here are some pictures of our new "office" set up since the old office will be the baby's room and then also a 12 week (almost) belly shot! So, now you will have a better picture of where I will be doing my blogging from. I did change my hair color for those of you that noticed...went a bit darker and had some red put in!

Jason has started studying for the PE exam. His plan is to study on the nights that I have running class (Tuesdays and Thursdays) as well as Sunday mornings when I go out for our long runs. Since I am not allowed to run tonight, I decided I would take a picture of him in action! I don't think he was too happy that I was taking a picture! Enjoy!

New Year, New Blog

Well this will be our first go at a blog, so hopefully we can stay on top of it! We wanted to put together this blog to keep our family and friends updated, especially over this upcoming year! It is so hard to keep everyone updated with what is going on, so hopefully this will be the trick.

We just celebrated New Years with our good friends, The Bucks. Mallory, John, Jaxon, and Ellie came in town for a few days, and we had a blast. The girls went to Canton Trade Days on Saturday while the boys braved the cold for the Texas Tech Bowl Game. Later that evening we met up with some of our other good friends, Tiffany and Barrett Sims and Andrew Savage. We went to a restaurant called the Magic Time Machine. It was quite an interesting experience, but we had a blast!

Unfortunately I (Rachel) am home sick today. I came down with a cold and didn't think the other people in my office wanted to share my illness. Oh well, it gave me the time to get this blog up and running!

Keep checking back, we will be posting pictures and updates as to what is going on in our lives!
