Busy once again

Whew, we've been a bit tardy in getting this posted.

Last week, we finished the deck.  Well, we almost finished it.  We apparently miscounted when we picked up the lumber because we are lacking two boards from completion.  We also got a corded drill to help us get it finished.  The battery powered drill kept dying on us and Rachel was pretty eager to just get it finished.  Kennedy also helped.

Kennedy has also started to play a fun new game with a toy pigeon.  It's a toy pigeon from the "Don't let the Pigeon" series.  We keep it stored on a shelf out of her reach and one day while we were holding her, she noticed it.  She reached out to grab it, but she dropped it.  Jason made a yelp and Kennedy got a chuckle out of it.  We tried it again, except this time she intentionally dropped the pigeon.  Now it's turned into a fun game with her.

Last Saturday, we turned Kennedy's car seat around.  She got a pretty good kick out of it.  We had originally anticipated that she would love it so much that we wouldn't hardly hear a peep from her.  Quite the contrary, we speculate that now that she can see us, she just tries to get our attention.

Rachel went to Amarillo for Whitney's bridal shower.  Whitney and Nate got a lot of great gear for when they start their new lives together.  Jason spent the weekend just chasing Kennedy around.  He even took her to the park to work out some of that energy.  We tried to get her picture, but we only got her from behind.

Weekend Getaway

We had some pasta and sauce for dinner one night this week.  We also prepared a small plate for Kennedy, but we didn't put the sauce on hers.  She only got a splash of butter to keep it moist.  She wasn't eating much of it so we gave her a taste of the tomato sauce.  She loved it!  We even covered her pasta with the tomato sauce.  She just ate the sauce without the noodles.  As you would imagine, it was a bit of a mess as documented by the photos below.

On Friday, Jason's mom and sister came to town to watch Kennedy while we went out for a brief weekend getaway.  We went to a resort on Lake Travis, just outside of Austin.  The hotel was on the lake and had a beautiful view.  On Friday evening, we were able to enjoy a bottle of wine on the back porch.  It's sad to say, but we were actually able to view the stars.  We even tested out our ability to spot the north star.  With a little help from Google, we were able to spot it.  On Saturday, we enjoyed a zip line adventure over the lake.  There were a total of 5 zip lines ranging from 300 to 2800 feet long.  We certainly enjoyed it and hope to go again some day.  That evening, we enjoyed some time out at the pool and had a nice dinner overlooking the lake.  We certainly enjoyed our time away, but missed Kennedy and were eager to get back home to see her.

After all of the birthday celebrations, we've been settling back into our normal routine.  Kennedy has been playing with all of her new toys.  The house feels like has been turned upside down, but Kennedy is loving it.

We've also had a couple of nights where Kennedy hasn't slept very well.  We suspect that she is getting another tooth.  It looks like she has another molar trying to poke through.

On Thursday, we had another gift arrive in the mail for Kennedy.  It was a miniature table and chairs from her Uncle Tyler, Aunt Lynsey, and cousin Brody.  We assembled it and Kennedy got to use it on Friday morning.  She really seems to enjoy being a "big girl."  It really amazes us that she does so well.

We also continued to work on the new deck this weekend.  It's been so hot, we haven't been able to put as much time into it as we would like.  We'll continue chipping away and hope to post some pictures soon.
